Employment Training

We Are Trained

It has been a busy week for us.  We had training on Wednesday and Thursday, this last week.  Bro. Stotts (our LDS Employment Manager) came from Houston, TX to give us 2 days of training.

Wow, there is a lot we are supposed to do.  We need to set up our office hours, provide employment workshops, visit all the units (Wards/Branches) in our Stake, and we were assigned three additional units in Westlaco, TX.  We are now in charged of 14 units (located in 7 buildings), so we will visit one building each Sunday and attend up to 3 Sacrament Meetings + other meetings in our spare time.

Our Area is Weslaco, Harlingen, Brownsville, South Padre Island, & everything between.

While Bro. Stotts was with us, he took us to visit South Padre Island (which is also in our area).  It is a small little island with a bridge that connects it to Texas.  The island is about 30 minutes NE from Brownsville.  We came back to Harlingen a different way by-passing Brownsville.

Friday night, we went to a pot-luck dinner in the Brownsville 2nd Ward.  We are trying to get know as many members as we can.  Saturday night, we went to the Harlingen 1st Ward for a fish fry with hush-puppies, coleslaw, and pineapple upside-down cake.  The whole ward must have been there, because the whole cultural hall was full.  The missionaries sang and we heard Fish Stories.  One fish story was about Jackson Lake, in Wyoming (small world).

Today, we went to see where the Weslaco building was.  It is approximately between Harlingen and McAllen, TX.
